Afanasiy Nikitin was born in a peasant family Nikita (thus, the "Nikitin" — the first name of Athanasius, and not the name). Made a trip to 1468-1474 being years (Dating L. S. Semenov[1] previously, I. I. Sreznevsky, dated as 1466-1472 years) in Persia, India and Turkey, and drew up a description of this trip in the book "journey beyond three seas". It was the first in Russian literature a description of the pilgrimage, and commercial trip, full of observations about the political system, the economy and culture of other countries. Nikitin himself called his journey a sinner, and this is the first in Russian literature a description of antipanicescoe.
