Nowadays many families prefer to have only one child.  However this can have both pluses and minuses.  The good side of having one child is that parents can devote more time to him or her.  Also less money and more attention can be given to one child than to many.  Educational and recreational opportunities are also better for one child.  Yet having one child is not always good.  The worst side of this is that the only child can become a  selfish person.  A lot of things for him or her only can be taken by the child for granted.  Also as his or her parents grow older and finally die, the child when grown up can be left totally alone. That is why it is very important to take into consideration all this when peoeple decide how many children to have .
